The story of Raushike “theSilence” Vaughn began in his hometown of Baltimore Maryland. Influenced by the sounds of his environment, Silence took up the the art of vinyl DJing, mixing baltimore club music, hip-hop, and house in the early nineties. After moving to Tennessee to attend school, he expanded his audio resume and began mixing trip-hop and downtempo instrumentals. It is here that Turntable Thoughts began as a live mixshow hosted by DJ Silence from 1998-2001 on Middle Tennessee’s 88.3 fm. During this time Silence also immersed himself in battle DJ culture, entering several exhibitions and placing as high as second in the Vinyl Kombat competitions in Nashville Tennessee. Shortly after returning to Baltimore, Silence became disillusioned by the declining quality of his favorite music. Finding himself spinning at monotonous events and corporate functions, DJ Silence took a needed hiatus from mixing music and relocated to Atlanta Georgia…

In 2008, Silence began creating as a digital DJ under the moniker theSilence. Turntable Thoughts was revamped as a podcast & music blog featuring eclectic vibes for the mind, body, & soul. The show’s current climate is focused on soultronic beats, vibes, and bass music including soulful downtempo and dubstep sounds. Recent sets have been featured on several sites across the internet including Bama LoveSoul, Nu-Soul Magazine, and Sticky Sugar Shack.
